Ulead videostudio 10 problem

Ive been playing with my new Sony hc3 today and have encountered a problem. I can import from the cam into the software and then when I choose to convert to wmvhd 1440x1080 it converts happily, but the output file is awfull quality, i mean webcam type stuff and the res is 208x160. I cant see any other option in there and every time i choose this it spits aout this awful low res file. Am i missing a codec or something?

that doesnt show wmvhd although its a nice tutorial, its wmvhd that i want to use and it will not let me use 1440x1080 which would be the best for my hc3 i reckon

Been there and got the t-shirt Took me a while to find out what was wrong....

You need to install Windows Media Encoder from the MS site first, otherwise you'll get low res clips as you say....

installed media enc 9 and have encoded one clip at 1440x1080 which is the native res of the clip i think, came out fine but a little on the icky side with me panning, i think i have to play with the settings as panning and camera movement like that looks a bit funny, not quite as smooth as those clips of the monkeys and that mirror ball.
