Video 8 conversion adaptor !

Is there such a thing as a video 8 adaptor ? seem to remember something like a vhs cassette and you placed the vid 8 into it and it played in a vcr.
My old camcorder has expired and i want to put the old film onto dvd.
I know there are companies out there that offer this service but i have a feeling one of the films may be "for my eyes only " lol.

Such a thing exists for VHS-C camcorder tapes, not for Video 8.

Take a look at this thread:
how can i get old hi-8 tapes onto pc/dvd?

If your camcorder won't play the tapes, you need to beg/borrow one..

Yep. The point is - on a VHS-C tape, the actual "structure" of the magnetic imprint on the tape is exactly like that on regular VHS; only the cassette shell is smaller. Whereas Video8 is entirely different in pretty much every respect - tape size, method of encoding audio, physical layout...... You need a Video8 deck of some sort.

buy one on ebay, use it, re-sell on ebay. Might even make a profit

One thing I would not do, is buy one from Argos, use it and then take it back on their 14 day promice. Its just not football.

ha

that would be quıte a foolısh move because argos dont offer ur money back unless the hardware has a fault ı know because a freınd of mıne brought a cam by mıstake and wanted hıs money back but argos saıd camcorders are excluded from the 16 day money back SO BE CAREFULL a nıce manager may help but ıt doesnt mean you'll get ur dough back

How I transferred my video tapes to Dv was to buy a widget to enable dv import on my camcorder. Then you can import your video8 tapes into dv format using a.v. leads using your dv camcorder. then it is fairly easy to convert dv to dvd. hope this helps it worked for me.

These widgets are great - but only if your camcorder is a few years old
The camcorders made over the past few years have had their inputs hardware disabled due to EU regulations and therefore the widgets don't enable them. So if buying a new camcorder you need to decide beforehand if you want/need the inputs to work as you can't enable them if they are not working out of the box.
