ULEAD 9 Help Required - WITS end

Hi
hope someone can help. recently been editing a wedding video for a friend, his files were from a hard disc recorder so i renamed them .mpg as advised on this forum, dropped them into the timeline did the editing all with no problem everything was going great.
Just building it to produce a disc and the process wont complete, 2% or so through and the progress stops, it just won't render it through. I have tried building an image file instead but same problem, any ideas?
Is this down to the renamed files? I hope there is a work around.....

Could be a multitude of things .Have you tried the software [ulead] before on another project ?? did it work then ?? What's the spec of your PC?? . Has it got internet access , meaning are you running anti-virus software ?? Have you got anti-spyware software on your PC?? . The reason's : if you have a virus your PC may grind to a halt . If you have some sort of spyware on your PC ,it will slow the PC down and be using up resources .Anti-virus programs are using up resources while scanning system files .Have you a fragmented drive ?? . Scan your PC, first using a anti-virus program then scan for spyware , if all clear disable your anti-virus proggy and de-frag your PC.This should speed thing up abit .Then try using Ulead .If still the same , it could be a software related problem or even a hardware related problem .Does your DVD drive write to other disks ?? try making a audio disk to see that works . As said , it could be anything , try to elimenate as much as possible.

Hi
normally use a sony mini-dv. it docks, sync's, transfers and builds discs no problem. this seems related to the fact that instead of importing the normal way (via the camera) i am re-nameing files that are already compressed mpeg 2 files (as they have been taken direct from a hard disc camcorder) this is the only thing i am doing differently.
