Digital Video Techniques Magazine

I picked up issue 8 of this magazine, as "toad" mentioned in another thread tripod I recently bought was reviewed there.

I wasn't aware of this magazine (which I guess as been around for 7 or 8 months - they do 13 issues a year), and having bought it I'm reasonably impressed! It targets itself to "beginner and intermediate users". It is organised into 3 main sections:

- Create: Shooting techniques and equipment care
- Edit: Editing techniques (based on Ulead Video Studio, Premiere Elements, Pinnacle Studio, and iMovie).
- Share: DVD authoring, based on Photoshop Elements, Encore, Premiere Elements, and Ulead Video Studio).

It also includes reviews of camcorders and accessories (including this month's tripod features). Each month comes with a CD, containing some media and additional "how to" articles.

It's not cheap (£5.99), but worth taking a look at. WH Smiths carries it.

Mark

It is a very good magazine and I think, worth the money if only for the samples of lower thirds . video clips, sound samples.

For pragmatism, it concentrates on a few select software but covers both the Mac and PC .
To be honest the techniques can be extrapolated to other software ( I would have loved a bit on Vegas : but hey : you cant have everything
It has a companion "Digital Video ( made easy)" which complements rather than replaces it.

The "how to ..." articles are more friendly than most user manuals

I have most of the series as it a great resource for teaching ( which I find myself doing less infrequently now than before )

Yes ,I bought issue 8 a few weeks ago ,quite suprised how good it was , especially if anyone's interested in shooting a video wedding. It has a 26 page guide and a free CD with lots of music samples and video introductions .It even has wedding DVD sleeves for you to alter and print.I bought it for the software reviews and it wasn't cheap at £5.99 but , there again what is nowadays ?

I liked it enough that I just signed up for a 6 issue subscription at £18 (half the newsagent price).

I got this issue as well and thought it was quite good - I am tempted to take a sub too, seeing as it makes it substantially cheaper!
