Sony HDRC1 Shot trans feature question

I am experimenting with the features on the above camcorder, but cannot get to grips with the shot trans feature. It would appear that all this feature does is to store two zoom/focus positions based on the same camera position and not store two completely different zoom/focus shots. Changing from a to b simply changes the zoom/focus position.Surely there must be more to it than my interpretation! since it would be just as easy to zoom/focus normally without this feature plus having the advantage of steady shot. I would welcome any comments and advise on using this feature.
Thank you
Charles

Charles,

I don't think you are missing anything... and agree it isn't a very useful feature. The one use is the undocumented one, that if you have SHOT TRANS on (do the first step to save a setting - don't need to do the second step) then it is possible to manually do much slower zooms than you could otherwise.
