The HC42 has been recently replaced by the 44/46... but the 42 is better featured. Has a larger CCD, and DV in (the 46 also does, not the 44), and has both analogue in and an accessory shoe (which neither the 44 or 46 has).

See this thread which includes a link to some HC42 images.... the Canon MV960 is an alternative in this price range.

Canon MV960 or Sony HC42

The big difference with the HC33 (which is also not a current model) is it isn’t widescreen – doesn’t have a widescreen mode at all. HC42 does, also has more pixels available for video to do quality widescreen, and has a widescreen LCD. There are some smaller differences like the HC33 has a B&W viewfinder.

Ok.. the 35 is like the 24, just with a "docking station"... and via this docking station it has DV-in.

I had a PC-9, which I also loved.

At Comet for £290? That seems a great buy. Amazon has it for £641!

The MVX30i is the PAL model of the Optura 400. Here is a review of that:

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...der-Review.htm

It is an old model (came out in 2004)... so you'd need to compare it to the current Canon range. It has a large 1/3.4" CCD, and 2.2MP for half decent stills... so on paper better than the excellent value Canon MV960 which sells for around £260. It's not quite the Mvx4i (Optura 600), but then again that one sells for £500 plus..

I hope you managed to order one, Lewie - the offer seems to be gone now.
Comet must have taken a decision to offload them sharpish for whatever reason. Or it was a typo - 50% discount is rather generous.

Anyone thinking of a Canon could possibly benefit from popping over to the Canonoutlet section of E-bay, where they dispose of factory refurbished products. Might need patience for a particular model, but prices seem attractive, and full guarantee, etc.
