Sony HDR-HC1E Case

Hi everyone

I was wondering if any of you had bought a case for the HC1 or HC3?

I think I have seen two types - 1 aluminium looking one and a normal soft case type one.

Wondered if anyone has purhased one....which is the best to go for and is there anywhere that sells them for a reasonable price?

i just bought 1 and it arrived yesterday.

I'm a bit dissapointed with it because it looks a bit womanly and handbagish. wish i had just bought a non-specific bag for it.

I'll sell you mine if you want. totally unused.

Only if it matches my shoes Andy

Got a picture? I will be online for another 10 mins if not I will log on tomorrow morning at work.

Are you saying that a handbag will suit me then?

To be sure without a case scratches will happen fast !
However I think any decent camcorder bag will do.
The Sony ones I saw in store( My Local Sony centre where I got the HC1 from) were decidely uninspiring ( and rather costly for the priviledge of having "sony" inscribed on them)

Hi senu.

Thanks for the advice you and others gave me before I went on holiday.

I did buy a second hand DVD camcorder (Sony DCR DVD 200E) at a very good price (£369 but in mint condition) thinking that it would tide me over for a while.

BUT - Being a bloke I saw a HC1 in Dixons at Stansted airport and thought "what the hell"! Got a bit of tax off so payed just over £1000 for it (£1199 is Dixons High St price at the mo).

What can I say.....best thing I ever did! Picture quality is unreal.

Thanks for persuading me!

I managed to get a free one (Sony soft case) thrown in with the Camera.
Not seen it yet as it should arrive today.
If its the one in the above link then thats fantastic as it will double as a handbag for when I go down Manchester at weekend.
Got to go Rupert wants his breakfast

I have the soft case and I kind of like it, it is just the right size for the cam and a spare battery and tape... but not too big. It does look a bit like a handbag though (Andy I did warn you!).

For "aluminium looking one" do you mean this one?

http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com/Son...shop=SST_GB_EN

It's a bit cheaper here... but I don't think you'll find it much cheaper..

....and yes that was the case that I meant, thank-you.

£155 is a bit scary though lol

A friend of mine bought a Samsonite one and it fits a treat. I will have to ask what the model was. He bought an aluminium type one and a soft bag.

I bought a Vivanco bag from Makro for £9.99+vat, excellent quality, has pockets at both ends, a full width pocket at the front, even a string pouch in the lid. It has a carrying handle AND a shoulder strap. It's internal lenth is exactly the same as the HC1, it could have been made for it, all the pockets have good quality zips, it's a steal. Holds all the leads, mains unit, spare tapes and batteries.

Remember the name ... VIVANCO, have a look on their website.

Oh and by the way, it doesn't look like a handbag.

Gordon.

PS. Found a link for the bag

Optex case from Camera shop (? Jessops) £14 soft but protective Dark purple/ black .It takes the camcorder perfectly, + extra battery and a few tapes.

Has velcro "spacers" to size the camcorder for a perfect fit

Looks..... nothing like a handbag

If you're after a case rather than a kit bag, look for a Sony LCM-TRVX.I had one for my old DCR-TRV30 and out of curiosity I tried putting my HDR-HC1E in it. Perfect fit.

Hi Dave,

Can't see a model on it, it may have had that info on a ticket when I bought it, I will have a look in Makro to see if they have any left and will keep you posted.

It's a perfect size for the HC1, the main compartment is "made to measure", and as I said earlier it has a zip front pocket, two end pockets with zips, and a net with zip in the lid part.

A bargain at £9.99 + vat.

Gordon.

Hi again Gordon

I looked at the link you kindly provided but am not sure which one to buy. I presume the different models relate to various sizes.

Thanks for replying.

I can't see a model on mine, I think it had a label on it when I bought it but that is long gone. I bought it from Makro for £9.99+vat.

Mark, I would presume that the cases for the HC3 would also fit?

The camcorders are identical in size I think? There are a few on Flea Bay that are advertised as fitting the HC3.

No the HC1 is longer, the HC3 seems a bit wider but the bags seem to have a little more room for a few tapes ect.

I use an older Panasonic bag (£10 from Comet ..they were giving them away ) which also allows me put an extra battery and AC adaptor

The HC3, HC5 and HC7 are smaller than the HC1

Last edited by senu; 22-09-2007 at 2:53 PM. Reason: meant ot say the HC3 was wider

Re: Sony HDR-HC1E Case

Yes the HC1 is bigger overall...significantly longer, and a bit higher, but actually less wide.
