Canon MV750i - how to reduce wind noise

I have a Canon MV750i mini DV camcorder which I use to record holidays and other family occasions, unfortunately it seems very sensitive to wind noise. Is there something I can fit on the built in microphone which will reduce this.
Failing that, is it possible to use an external mike, I know there is no socket for one but wondered if it was possible.

My Sony miniDV is the same - an external mic with wind cover would be ideal if it weren't too expensive.

Yeah that is the best bet but a good quality external microphone which attaches to the top of the camcorder via the 'hot shoe' is pretty expensive. A quality microphone will cost you about £80 at least. If you don't wanna buy an external microphone then check these out. By the way a lot of people these days get external microphones to add to their camcorders cos the sound is so much more directed towards the person or object you're trying to film and you get a hell of a lot less sound noise from everywhere else thats not wanted.

I've attached a couple of microphone pictures for you. The rode funny enough is the best and its only £90 compared to the sennheiser which is nearly as good and is £150

Unfortunately neither of the Microphones mentioned seems compatible with the Canon. I have read the manual again and can't find any mention of using an external mike whilst recording, there is section about audio dubbing using the AV input socket, but that only adds an additional soundtrack afterwards.
I guess I will have to live with it or upgrade!
