Help with viewing Sharp Viewcam footage through Sony Handycam or PC

Hi

I have many 8mm and Hi8 tapes that were shot using a Sharp Viewcam. I would like to convert these to DVD via a PC. I was hoping that I would be able to do this via the Sony Handycam DCR-TRV255E that I bought last year but I am unable to view any of the footage that was shot using the Viewcam through the Handycam. Has anyone got any suggestions how I can get the images on to my PC from either of the camcorders?

Thanks

Hi,

Just copied this information from the sony web site;

Format
Digital8
Hi8/Video8 Playback
NO

So it seems that your Sony will only playback Digital 8 Tapes. The only way to play back your Analogue tapes will be to use the Sharp if it is still working or get hold of another Hi8 Camcorder, along with a piece of hardware to convert the signal into something that will be able to be used in MPEG 2 format for DVD production. There are many products out there so you will need to do some searching on this forum first!!

Hope this starts to help.
