Is it possible to edit lighting on Micro MV footage?

I'm in the process of editing 3 hours of wedding footage recorded on my Sony DCR IP7E Micro MV camera.

The footage of the evening of the wedding, shot in a function suite with low light, is almost barely worth watching due to the pq.

I never realised but the DCR IP7E does not seem to have a low light function or whatever you call it.

My mate shot some footage on his £300 handycam, and you'd never believe the two tapes were shot at the same time. His is unbelieveably clear given the low light conditions and mine is rubbish!

Is there any way of editing the tapes to improve the pq by increasing light somehow?

Grasping at straws now!

you can try putting it on your pc and then fiddling with the brightness/contrast settings (try doing this on your tv too) but its not going to make an insane difference. micromv's main selling point was its size, so every component in it is small - including the lens. the bigger the lens, the more light that can enter it. they're fine for outdoor shooting on holiday etc, which is probably what they're aimed at.. but low light shooting is a no no. low light and digital video is a headache fullstop, so i can assure you you're not the only one in that situation - i shoot on a PD150, which is pretty much the defacto camera for low lighting, and i'm still having to bump up gain amounts higher than i'd like.

Pinnacle Studio 9 (10) , Cyberlinkpower Director 5, Ulead Videostudio7-9 and Moviefactory Versions 3-5 are a few programs which can import and edit MicroMV files. Sony Vegas /Vegas Music Studio And Possibly Adobe Premire Elements 2 are others.

That the files can be imported and edited does not imply that this is easy or trouble free but is worth exploring
MicroMV is a form of mpeg 2 transport stream ( a lesser implementation of HDV files) which failed to capture the mainstream ( Like minidisc : another example of Sony proprietary formats and restrictive markerting??)

I am not endorsing any of the above programs but just making you aware that you are not limited to whatever software Sony limits you to.

As the above post suggests, once on the PC the footage can be adjusted to desired levels ( brightness , contrast, colour , white balance) for output.
I note from your previous thread that you are trying to get to DVD from MicroMV Going via a Software editing program or Ulead Movie factory is a way of editing and going to DVD
