Exclamation Stuck on a Firewire

Help please I’m stuck.
I have Sony TRV460E handy cam that refuses to communicate with my fire wire card I just installed on my pc.
Yes I have got the Cable 6 pin to 4 pin I. Link but the only thing that appears on my LCD is AV/DV in on the cam, but my PC cannot see my Cam not even a flutter on my PC screen to say the cam is connected.
All of my programs connect to the Web cam and TV card but my Handy Cam
will not show.
Nero don’t see it Ulead don’t see it and the package that comes with the cam don’t see it.
If I connect via USB no problem to connect to all of the above.
I have checked the card is installed in the device manager.
All is ok there.
It shows 1394 Fire wire PCI card is installed and working properly.

Sounds very strange , I had a similar problem with a firewire card so I just did the obvious and changed it , now no problem.

I reckon that you have windows XP service pack 2 installed, if so then you have to perform a regedit fix, SP2 reduced the firewire standard to 100MPBs as opposed to the 400 (or even 800) standard, this can affect OHCI and other communications.

Click on 'Start'
Click on 'Run'
type 'RegEdit'

Go into your system tree and look for an IEEE1394 device, double click for options
type SiSpeed
enter 2 in the option box

This should revert your firewire card to the correct speed, and should fix all of your problems.

THIS ADVICE IS GIVEN AS A SUGGESTION WITHOUT ANY LIABILITY IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE, PERFORM THIS ACTION ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Do a google on Reg Edit & SiSpeed and you should find a lot of folk who have used this fix successfully. I am amongst them.
