JVC D73. Poor transfer to PC?

Have used two PC, one brand new, Using either USB 1 and Firewire. The transfer to the PC is very poor, the picture come's out pixelised . When I'm transfering the flim across the view from the camcorder looks good but the view from the PC is not the same. Help please.

What software are you using to capture the footage?

There are loads of problems that can cause the pixelation. A search on this forum will bring up loads of help & advice on getting good clean capture from the camcorder.

Ignore USB as this is not up to the job, but firewire should give a 100% copy of what is on the tape.
What format are you capturing the video as? You should capture as .AVI file for best quality, but most software will let you capture as .MPG which is highly compressed and therefore lower quality.
What are the specs of the PC? If the specs are low then you may well have problems with the PC keeping up with the camcorder if capturing as a compressed format.
How much disc space do you have free? AVI files will eat up around 14Gb per 1 hour tape and the fuller the disc gets the more chance of problems.

Mark.
