sony dcr-hc42e and bullet cams

hi, hope this is the right place to ask.
i am trying to connect a bullet cam to my sony, i have plugged all the leads as per instructions and am using a 8 battery power source for the mic and to power the bullet cam.
my problem is that when i turn the camcorder on the picture is on the camcorder and not the bullet cam.

does anyone know how i can change the settings in the camcorder so i can record from the bullet cam please.
