Sony 8 cm dvd discs

Hello all, before spending any more cash (or wasting) I am after some more 8cm dvd's.Having found a couple of sites mentioned on this site, the prices are far cheaper for a different brand than Sony. So my question is will the quality be any different from Sony and will any other brand not work in a Sony Handycam dvd 92e.
Thanks for any replies - Spike.

Yes, other brands will work. You get an irrtating nag screen advising you to use Sony discs (typical Sony) but otherwise they work fine. I use Emtec -RW discs in my DVD203 with no problems.

A quick note of caution about optical media in general.

I have a variety of older CDR's the cheaper ones often don't read properly or at all (talking 6-7 years but some just 2). The branded ones are less prone to these problems.

If you're going to use any writeable discs then consider backing them up to a second DVD and/or hard drive so your less likely to lose your memories. Same rules apply to cheap and expensive media, but I've come to expect less from no name and unbranded discs.
