Help: Converting 8mm Tapes To Laptop

Hi,

I have a Hitachi Video Camera/Recorder VM-E563LE, which takes 8mm tapes.
I rarely use the camera however i do have some 8mm tapes that i wouldn't mind converting onto dvd.

The problem is not so much the software (although any advice much appreciated) but on how to connect it.

My cam doesn't have a dv connection (as the cam is a few years old now), and i have never bothered connecting it to a tv before either

The only out connections it has is a yellow (video) and a white (audio) connection - which then to connect to tv you plug into the scart adapter.

now my laptop has an s-video (i think) port on it as well as the usual usb and firewire.
is there any way i can connect the camera to the laptop via this port? if so what do i need, if not how else can i get my tapes onto the computer.
also once hopefully connected what software do you recommend i use to get the videos?

any help appreciated.

regards

Hi,

If you have a USB 2.0 port on your laptop then check out something like the Pinnacle Dazzle DVC 90. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSit...Creator+90.htm

Not used it myself but this is the type of product you need to use to convert analogue video onto your laptop!
