Canon MV880X

I have been looking for a new camcorder for a while to replace my JVC DVL-108 which i have had a few yrs but its now failing.
Reading about other JVC,s and just returning one back to Amazon because the motor noise was so bad i have been put of with JVC.
So in the last few days i have been reading the latest What Digtial Camcorder and have been looking at the Canon MV800X as the review i read said the mic didn't pick up the cam's mechanism.
I don't want to buy a camera with motor noise on my recordings.

So is the MV800X bad or good or should i go for something else?

It must have 1.33mp CCD and be good in low light and have good still photo's.

Any advice and help would be great.

Re: Canon MV880X

Hi Surf

I have just purchased a Canon Mv880X a few days ago and I am well pleased with it.

I use to have a Canon MV830 two years ago , and the MV880X is better in low light in my opinion the the MV830.

What i like is when I put the digital effects on to low light in slightly darker places and the quality of the picture is great although it strobes a little but in a nice way . I used to have a JVC Gr-D340 and they have a digital night coulor option. To me that one over strobed. Plus generally low light was quite poor , I also still have a Sony DCR-HC35 and although there is less moter noise on the Sony the Canon's stil a better option, in low light the Sony was really murky.

But the moter noise is'nt really a major problem with me . The inbuilt mic picks up sound sources very well I think.

Re: Canon MV880X

Hi Surf

I do like the quality of the MV880X, especailly in daylight the image quality is crystal clear. and the coulors are vibrant.

Low light is not fantastic but it is better then my JVC Gr-D340 and my Sony DC-HCR35 and my first Canon MV830.

You do pick up some moter noise but its not too loud I do like the inbuilt mic

It picks up my solo gigs very well.
