Thanks: Gave 3, Got 0 | JVC digi cam at TESCO £119 - Pros & cons???
I'm looking for an entry level camcorder and was hoping someone could give me some info on this JVC?
It's not listed on TESCOs website and their advert in the paper doesn't even tell the model number/name.
What are the pros & cons? Why is it so cheap?
Any help would be much appreciated by this newbie.
I've throroughly searched the forum before posting this new thread, so sorry if there is already a thread about this...

Can you enquire and get the model number? JVC don't make a digital camcorder at anywhere near that price.

There's a thread on Simply DV that discussed this - apparently there has been an end-of-range clearance of this camera at Tescos. See http://www.simplydv.co.uk/simplyBB/v...ic.php?t=16297. Apparently it's the JVC GR-D240EK and the price quoted here is correct.

If it's a GR-D240 then it's a helluva bargain. That's less than the trade price.

Is there a difference between the JVC GR-D240 and the JVC GR-D240EK ?
I found the JVC GR-D240 on TESCOs website, but it's over £230...

I found the JVC GR-D240 on TESCOs website, but it's over £230... | The EK just denotes that it's the UK version. All UK versions are EK but compaines don't always print the full number. Thay are the same camera.

It's on Amazon for £179, so the price is all over the place. They have a full tech spec there for the EK version.

Hi.
Any one manage to find 1 of these in their Tescos?
I've rang around all the ones local to me - Leicester / Derbyshire, and they are sold out.
Thanks.

Hiya, i bought one last week for £149, and got to say, it's brill for the money,i was looking at getting the JVC grdf540 for £270, but this thing got more optical zoom - 25 times, and more digital zoom- 800 times, so i think i got a bargain.

Hi there,
Just bought one of these, I was thinking of replacing my 5 year old Panasonic MX5 (I think). The Panasonic is quite heavy, and quite slow to start up, but on opening the JVC, I was surprised that it felt quite cheap and plasticky. I haven't used the JVC yet, but would assume the picture quality would be similar to the Panasonic, As I could probably sell my Panasonic for about £60-£70, does anyone have any opinions as to which I should keep??
Many thanks
Mike

Mike | I bought twelve of these last year for recording assessments in University. They were around £230 each.
Compared with my old Panasonic DVGS15 their clearly not as robust or well built.
They do everything else just as well with one exception. The DIS (anti shake) isn't as good as the old Panny.
For £130 these JVC's are a bargain for the zoom power alone!

Not sure Benskia, am going up tesco tonight, so will have a look.
Kippax - to be honest, for what i want it for....filming the kids, holidays and all, it will do me perfect, it'll get chucked around etc, so £149 isnt bad. Like CLH said, the zoom is really good, and more than most cams twice the price.
