Cyberlink - Power Director 3.0 - problems

I have successfully captured clips from my Sony DV Camcorder and edited them. However, the final DVD seems to be slightly jerky and is not as good quality as the orginal despite using the high quality settings.

Are there any beter editing programs around and should one expect the final DVD to be as good quality as the orgianl tapes??
