Novice and First Post - iLink from Sony DCR-PC1000E

I'm trying to transfer from my camcorder via Studio Pinnacle Plus 10 using the iLink cable.
Earlier on in the week it worked a whole lot better than it's now working, I'm constantly getting a dialog box which says check your cables. It's all plugged in, set to play, mains cable is in so no battery use.
What's going wrong, any help appreciated?

Thank You.

Try launching the application first then switching on the camcorder.

You could also try switching on the camcorder while connected to the PC without Pinnacle being open. Does the PC detect the camcorder? If you you may have a faulty firewire cable.

New firewire cables can cost as little as £3.00 from a computer fair.

Hello Laser,

Thanks for your input.

The silly thing about it is that it works on and off.

When I plug the iLink in and switch on the camcorder it does see it, it auto opens up the program but then nothing works.

The fact that it's so intermittent is the irritating thing.
