Cool Camcorders with mega pixel stills

I am looking at buying a new a new camcorder. I have looked at various sites for reviews and I have come up with one that suits my buget to a tee.

JVC GR-DF540EX MiniDV camcorder found on Pixmania.

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/9384...html#avisconso

My only concern is that I can not find this model number anywhere else not even on JVC's own UK web site.

For this price can I go wrong though?

Are there any other camcorders with mega pixel stills which I should consider? I only want Mini DV format with seperate flash memory for the stills.

JVC has 1.33 megapixel resolution.

If you paid a bit extra you could go for the Sony HC90 which as 3 megapixel resolution. Cheapest price I have found is currently from Amazon, seen one sell on ebay this week for £500 . Link below to hc90 on Amazon.

Sony HC90 on Amazon £449 incl. delivery

Optical zoom above 10x as well

I forgot to add that I am looking for one with decent optical zoom as well. From the reviews that I have read anything above 10x will be good too.

Hi Taz, Just recieved a DCR-HC90e two days ago. It is my third Sony camcorder and by far the best, small, light and takes very good pictures and superb video, Cost £485 from Digico, but they are now out of stock.
I spent a week looking at reviews before purcase and this one came out best. I would also advise you do a review search on the website you intend to purchase from as that one dose not get good feedback.
The Amazon price is no longer available and has gone up by £100.

The amazon link still shows 449 to me. I think the HC90 is in short supply. Pixmania showed it just after xmas as first 6-8week, then due in 27/1. Now they don't list it at all. The HC94/96 are due Feb so perhaps production has switched to those. There is not a lot of difference between the 96 and 90. The 96 has an external battery, a different shape, slightly fatter (better to hold perhaps?) and a cradle for connections.

Your right it dose. I'm well peed off, just spent an extra £35 as when I was last looked it had gone up, they must have had a fresh supply. Sounds like a good buy to me.
