Thanks: Gave 3, Got 17 | Value of Camcorder
Hi,
I bought a camcorder setup a couple of years ago now and never really got into it and was wondering what it might be worth if I wanted to sell it.
I know nothing about the current status in this area hence my request.
I have the following...
Panasonic NV-DX100 3CCD MiniDV Camcorder
2 Stardard Batteries
1 Extended Life Battery (external type)
3 Tapes
1 Carry Bag
Everything is minty mint and fully working.
Any idea what it might be worth ? I think I paid ~£2k for the lot new.
Cheers, Lee

TBH the additional accessories will add little or no value to the camcorder when selling. Tapes are around £3 each and batteries don't last forever, so probably wont be relied apon by anybody buying the cam.
I've just had a look on good old eBay for a guide to its price and there are currently 2 up for auction. One at an opening cost of £590 with no bids since 29/12/05 and the other with 15 bids currently at £156. I would therefore think it will only be worth somewhere around £250 for the lot - sorry
Mark.

Thanks for the reply Mark.
Looks like I might as well hang onto it...seems a shame to sell it for so little.
I'll follow those two eBay auctions and see how they end.
Cheers, Lee

you are up against a couple of things:
the price of equivalent / better camcorders has dropped considerably in the last five years (the dx100 was 2000 model range) an equivalent brand new panasonic would cost around £500, so I would even say that £250, even for a boxed unused cam would be optimistic.
They remain great wee cams with a nice bright constant f1.6 maximum aperture through the zoom range and biggish (by todays standards) 1/4inch ccds, and a basic audio level control.
As memory serves there was a poster lookig for one a while ago, do a forum search.

I hardly used mine at all to be honest...it was something I fancied getting and bought on a whim without really have a use in mind. I took it to a few Air shows and filmed our cats and a few family occassions but thats it.
It is in mint condition and in fully working order.
Well the one on eBay went for £311+£10p&p.
I think I'd like to get £350 if possible...any less and it really wouldn't be worth selling.
Cheers, Lee
