Roxio Videowave7 Buffering problems

My brother is using Roxio Videowave7 for editing and burning his sony DV camcorder recordings.
The software allows you to transfer directly to DVD from the camcorder but there is a stuttering issue so I told him to copy video to hard drive then burn a DVD from there. Same problem.... Im well lost so anyone got an idea of what to try next. PC is a 2ghz A64 with 512 DDR and R7000 graphics, 120gb hard drive so should be easily upto spec for this.
Or recommend some better software?

Sharky,

Please let us know a little more about the connection from camorder to PC. Is he using Firewire? Is he capturing now still directly to MPEG 2 format and what settings are being used? Is DMA selected for the capture hard drive??
Once we all have slightly more information then hopefully we can help fix the fault!

Cheers

Hi Sharky,

Attached is a basic screen grab on how to check for DMA on the PC. Hope this helps. Let me know when you have the other settings details!

Cheers for now
