Premiere 6 - grid effect when using transparency

I am overlaying video on top of video in Premiere 6 via transparency. When I do this, render, and play back, a very slight grid effect appears on the picture. This problem is only slight, but is noticable. What I mean by a grid effect is small cubes covering the entire picture. The picture itself is not pixelated. Hard to explain, but I am hoping someone knows what the cause of this problem is and how to solve it!

Many thanks in advance.

Don't worry it's just a preview quality version, the actual rendered file will be in your capture disk and will be played when you come to output your project.
It could eb a number of things that causing this:

Preferences: you can change preview quality, it's best kept on low with premiere 6, you can also switch off external viewing so that the playback is either only on the monitor screen or only on the camcorder. If its set to both then it may be that your video card is struggling slightly.

Either way your video should look absolutley fine on the tape. If in doubt connect a monitor up to your cam/capture deck then do a trial dump.

Thanks for the reply Roy. The thing is, what I am doing is rendering the clip, exporting clip to tape (back to my camcorder) and playing this captured footage on my TV. It is by doing this that the problem is more noticable - the grid effect that I explain is not as apparent when watching the rendered clip on the PC via, for example, WMP.

I have updated my codec to DX9.0c, but still to no avail. I have noticed on other forums that people have had the same problem. I wonder if it a hardware problem i.e. put simply, my video card is not up to the job?

The problem gets worse the more overlaps (transparencies) you do. These are vital for my project so I am really at my wits end!!

Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated!
