Unhappy JVC Everio GZ-MC200 problem

----------
My Problem
----------

My pc is only six months old (Philips P4 3Ghz, 1GB ram etc.) and it's not compatible with the software bundled with the camcorder !!

My DVDRW drive (Philips PBDV1640p) is not compatible with the cyberlink powerproducer ne software.
I can take video, put it on to my pc, use powerdirector to reformat the data.

Powerproducer should then burn my lovely dvd for all to see - NO CHANCE. Powerproducer doesn't recognise the drive (drive is not ready / there is no disc in drive).

I can burn the reformatted data to rom via XP or cyberlink power2go but all I get is video - no sound.

I've emailed cyberlink and they're telling me that my drive is incompatible.

Here's the link to the cyberlink powerproducer website to check compatability with your drive.

http://www.cyberlink.com/english/pro...dvd_drives.jsp

If anyone has some input to my problem before I buy a new dvdrw drive - please post asap - as I'm busy filling up the 4gb over crimbo and need to put it to DVD :-)

Thanks: Gave 17, Got 10
Unless you can get a firmware upgrade for the dvd its buy a new one, best one atm seems to be the Benq 1640

Now, what are your impressions of the camcorder as I am thinking about buying one from ebuyer??

mc 200 reply

Hi applebwl,

Thanks for your reply, the Benq drive you mentioned is not on the compatible list on the cyberlink www I've included on the post. I'm thinking of the NEC ND-3500A / ND-3500AG or the Liteon LDW-1653s - but all these drives are going out of stock as they are old drives.

Question - Does anyone out there use the MC200 with any of these drives - any probs with compatability / burning ? Recommendations please from the compatability list as I'm loathe to buy anything not on the list.

With regard to the camera, you need a good light source in order for the camera to function properly, but according to other threads even weak lighting could be sorted out via the software - I'm yet to see that as I can't burn to rom yet.

The photographs are excellent, this camera uses its 2.12mp ccd to capture photos. Unlike it's bigger brother the MC500 (which uses one of its 3no. 1.33mp ccd's). So even though this is the middle one of the bunch - it's the best for photos. Video in sun light is excellent - though not DVD quality as the box suggests. The compact flash drive is huge that comes with it and you can pick up a battery for about £7.00 off ebay (900mah) and a case is about the same again from ebay.

I've posted a review on ebuyer - look for jvc mc200 - hope this helps ?? - It's £350.00 here !!

Hi

I saw that the Benq was not included but its a new drive, and the previous model Benqs are included so it should be OK. Also firmware updates available
for the drives

Thanks for the info, think I will order one

MC 200 review - a good one

Hi Applebwl,

Just found a good review with video clips that are downloaded straight from the cam.
