zig zag lines - why do i get these?

hello peeps,

i have a mini-DV camcorder and yesterday captured and converted footage to a DVD. i'm using a software called TMPGEnc + TMPGEnc Auther to convert and Nero to burn.

when i played back the DVD, i noticed horrible zig zig lines (mostly on people) when the carmers moves and once the picture is stable (i.e. doesn't move) it gets better.

what can the problem be?

cheers,

Incorrect field order perhaps.

Incorrect field order will show up as stuttering particularly in high motion shots.

If you are already using TMPGEnc there is a help guide to fixing here (if you think that is your problem).

its got to do with the encoding for sure. the tmpgenc should have a setting to chose top field or bottom field first. Most footage is bottom field first and this could be the problem if you have set it to top field.

Another reason is that your encoder is set to deinterlace the footage while encoding. Try uncheck this option because i found this could disrupt the picture when viewing.

Hope this helps cant think of any other reasons for your problems
