JVC GR-DX107 Camcorder Advice / Opinions

Hi, This is my first post, and would like to say thanks to everone out there for the valuable advice and information that is in the forums.

Ive been looking to change my camcorder, Currently have a Sharp ViewcamZ 8H and find it not very good in the evenings / night as it does not cope with the light very well

Ive been looking at the JVC GR-DX107 as a possible replacement but dont really want to fall into the same trap again of buying something that is a potential problem.

Has anyone had any experience with the JVC device, and is it any good.

Thanks in advance
Steve.

review on the way

i actually bought this camara this morning, long story but i finally went with this one - main use will for recording from my helmet cam so not using the normal lens.

i paid £230 including a tripod i managed to blag for being messed about abit (at ahhhmm Dixons) it was the display model but i think it was good value. i will test it out over the next few days so ask if you have any specific questions

look elsewhere

right then where shall i start!

when i've heard people moaning about motor noise on camcorders i didn't get what all the fuss was about - it cant be "that" loud. well it is, in fact it's worse than anything i could ever have imagined.

low light recording - just dont bother.

playback - new recordings fine but it wont play back any recordings from my old jvc mini dv at all - (well ok it attemps the sound)

The stills are better than i expected though from this, being the first cam i've used that stores to card rather than to the tape i cant say if its better or worse than others.

i'm just so very glad im only using it to record from my helmet cam if i wanted to use it for anything else i would have to take it back, the motor noise really is that unbearable.
