Problems with DCR HC90E

Hey everyone,

So I've had the DCR-HC90E for the past month or so and love it - have been capturing lots of video but came this morning to dump some stuff from a tape and the software (Windows Movie Maker) no longer picks the device up. Also when I used to connect it the the PC would recgonise it and ask me what I wanted to do - now nothing.

Anything quick to check what could be going on ?

I've reconnected the cables, charged teh camera, kept it plugged in while attempting capture, rebootde etc etc ..

Nige

All I can suggest is you buy a replacement firwire cable. They are not expensive and you should be able to pick one up for around £5.00.

If you haven't already done so, it maybe worth upgrading winxp to sp2.

I think SP2 could be the problem.
Since SP2 was released there have been loads of questions asked on here about their camcorders no longer being detected by XP. The good new however is that Microsoft have released some 'hotfixes' to solve the problems. I suggest you get onto the MS website and download the required fixes.

Mark.
