Unhappy NTSC to PAL - How to do?

HELP!

The company I work for has purchased a Mini DV Canon MV830i

Its a nice Camera for what we need, I also had them get the Firewire Cables to Download the Video to my PC, so people in the company can make the videos we need and then I can get them to PC for Training Purposes,....

NOW then.

My Cam is PAL as we are based in the UK, but our parent company is in Japan, and they use NTSC, They send us tapes and Want them to be downloaded to the PC also, but the Camera Cannot play NTSC tapes, and the output on the PC is blocks of Colour..

HELP.. how can I get the Camera to Read these NTSC Tapes,

I think MultiRegion MiniDV would be a great idea

Ive looked all over the net and cant find anyone who has had this type of problem,,

Thanks

Kai.

I doubt you will be able to "convert" a UK-spec machine to playback NTSC tapes. You are going to need an NTSC miniDV machine, I suspect.

Otherwise, why not ask Japan to send you the material on, say, DVD?

OK,
Thanks for the info so far,

I think I will Ask our Japanese company to change the Video to Mpg and send it by CD.
May take a week or two but it will save alot of hassle.

I assume he means Minidv camcorder for playback .If so it seems like a good idea to me . You can then decide how you want to use it( your tapes) rather than rely of their encoding to mpeg .
Just Supposing their ( encoding) codecs are incompatible with your final output software/ hard ware? . that introduces another headache. There are other threads in this forum that deal with convertion of pal to ntsc and vice versa ie: The use of Canopus procoder/ procoder express or Tmpg enc.
Lets know how you get on
