Cable Issues (AV to USB?)

Hi
I recently borrowed a very old (9 years) Samsung Camcorder to video a friend's wedding. I really want to get the coverage onto my mac for editing.

Since the camcorder is so old, it only has an AV out port. The Mac however, has no AV inputs, just USB or Firewire.

So far, the best solution I have come up with is transferring the tape to VHS, sending the VHS to my brother to transfer to his DV camera, which can then be transferred to computer via its firewire link. Surely there is an easier way!!!

Does such a thing as an AV-USB cable exist and if so, where would I get it?

Thanks!

You could use Canopus ADVC-110 Analogue/Digital converter. You plug your analogue outs from the camcorder into it & then connect it via firewire to the PC. They are not cheap & if this is a one off probably won't be worth the investment (unless you can borrow one).

If not that some DV camcorders can accept AV in & convert on the fly to the PC (again connected by firewire). Find a friend who has one.

Or you could try to find a friendly local forum member that has the ability to capture from an analogue device - there are one or two of us around
You're not anywhere near Rainahm Essex are you
