How can i put the time and date on when editing ?

Hi there
I am just new to camcorder's and the software. What it is i am trying to do is put the date and time on stuff i've downloaded from my camcorder so when i edit it and put it on to dvd you can see the date and time on the finished edit. Can someone please help me i am going mad. My camcorder is a sony hc-32e and the software is ulead videostudio 9

You mean a 'date/time stamp'?

Two ways....

1. Do it in camera at the recording stage with ethe camera's in built date/time stamp facility

2. Use Video Studio's overlay title feature and simply type in the date/time by hand.

Either way it should only appear for a few seconds and not for the duration of the recording, unless it's 'surveillance footage'.

If you go in to the On Screen Menu and press Arrow Down you'll see a setting called DATA CODE this is the date and time stamp mode. You can turn it on and off as will through your recordings

If you have already captured the footage and providing it is digital- AVI (captured by firewire) then Ulead VideoStudio 9 has two options to allow you to make a note of the actual recording date.

1. - Allow you mouse cursor to hover over a thumbnail in the library - after a second or so an information box will appear - the bottom line of information should say "Recording Date"

2. - Go to "File >> Preferences" and right at the very bottom under the 'General' tab click to tick in the box against "Display DV timecode on preview window" - this will show the recording timecode in the window when you play the video.

Then as kevo has already said use that information to make a small title box to display onscreen for a few seconds.
