I no nothing about them, is this one any good?

Hi all.
I know nothing about camcorders so please be kind. I want something to record holiday stuff and just genrall stuff with the kids. I wont be messeing about editing on a pc or anything like that but would like to copy on to DVD and (at the moment Vhs) is this one any good for my buget of about £250?

By the looks of it the camcorder you linked to looks fairly good for £200, but IMO you will get a smaller and probably better cam if you get a DV camcorder.
Digital8 uses larger 8mm tapes, where DV uses smaller 4mm tapes which in turn mean the camcorder can be a lot smaller and therefore more likely to get carried around. D8 is a Sony format, but I believe Samsung also make them. If you look at DV you will have a lot more choice from several different makes.

I suggest you have a play with a few different models in a shop, then get on the net and find the best price. If you then go to a Jessops they will do an internet pricematch on any UK web site. Therefore if you have any problems you have a shop you can go back to, rather than a faceless internet site!
