Problems outputting to DVD with Studio 8

OK- here's the scenario: I use Pinnacle Studio 8, with the latest patch installed, but don't seem to be able to output to DVD. Its a few months since I last did any disk creation, but I've always had some trouble or other with this product.

ATM, it fails to burn, unless I split the process into 2: render it first, and then choose the option 'burn from previously created disk content', at which it burns, but when i attempt to play the disk, the content of it is shown as Audio + video TS, which if I remember correctly are the files that you would use to create a DVD in an app such as Nero.

To save me wasting many hours, what other options do i have?
I previously have been advised to create an AVI file, import that onto the time line, and burn that to DVD. I've not tried that yet, but with previous projects have had sucess, but have lost the menu from it. Do I have to re do the menu, and re insert chapter points if I do it this way?

also, has anyone found the latest u/g of studio to be any more effective that this one?

BTW I am attempting to burn to DVD-RW, as I normally do so, to check it through, after which I would burn it to a standard -R disk

Hi,

When I used to use Pinnacle, I always selected the option to save the DVD image to disk and then used Nero to do the final burning onto DVD.

As you have noticed (and would also see by reading the many threads on this forum), Pinnacle has great features but is one of the 'buggiest' programs around. I did upgrade from v8 to v9 and, to be quite honest, would not recommend it. Sure, many bugs have been fixed, but then new ones have been introduced. By far your best option would be to spend your 'upgrade money' on a new product such as ULead Video Studio or Sony Vegas Movie Studio, both of which have demos available on their web site.
