Hi8 to Mini DV Tape

Hi,
I have been copying my old Hi8 tapes from an analogue camera to my Mini DV camera and notice that after the copying has been done, on playback on my PC, at the very bottom of the picture, there is a line across the picture. Most people probably wouldn't notice this but it annoys me!!

Is this just a consequence of analogue to digital or is there something I haven't set/done/checked?

As usual, comments would be greatly appreciated.

This is due to the overscan on PC monitor showing more than a TV does.

All my video footage produces a 'line/rollover' of some kind at the bottom on my PC.
Also it depends on what software you use. Power DVD tends to show more than others.

I wouldn't worry about it, it won't show up on your TV (or shouldn't do!)

The chances are that the noise line is in the overscan area of the picture. This overscan area is visible on a PC, but is not seen on a properly setup TV screen. Try playing one of the DV tapes directly onto your TV and see if the noise line can be seen - if not then there is nothing to worry about.

if it's that big a deal you can zoom slightly into the imagw, meaning no lines on playback, however you will get a slightly softer image and will require afair bit of rendering.
