SONY DCR-pc1000 is it all its cracked up to be?

alot of cam mags pasteing this new small cam all over the place, worshipping it!!! But is it really that good?? anybody tried out these new 3 cms chips? It's seems excellenta s a small camera for on the go, easy to take and handle: with true 16:9 and good lens but then you have the panasonic NV-GS250 with leica glass which might be a better buy.

any thoughts? anybody got experience with these cameras or others in like price and size range?

I debated between the Sony 1000 & a Panasonic NVGS400EB & went for the Panasonic. I am well pleased with the first holiday footage off it in widescreen except that I seem to have problems with getting the verticals vertical. The build quality is not as good as my Sony TVR 900 though.
