Unhappy Viewfinder scrambled - but playback ok thru TV??

Hi
I've got a samsung vp-w60 camcorder [analogue 8mm with digital processing] and recently, started having problems with it.
When looking thru the viewfinder - when the camcorder is in either record or play back mode - there is no picture available. only a back screen with digital interference.
The camcorder has not been used for 2 weeks, and when i picked it up to use it , thats when i noticed the prob.
I think it may be the digital signal procesor
any ideas folks??
When the camcorder is plugged into the tv, the output is visible, so its just the viewfinder thats messed
Help??

First, can I say that I don't personally know this camcorder and haven't ever had this probem with any of my camcorders, but from what I can see I think you've answered your own question. As you can view your film OK using the output to TV then the recording and output functions of your camcorder must be OK, so it does sound as if your Viewfinder has broken. As the camcorder doesn't have an LCD screen you can use (please correct me if I'm wrong), you're basically stuck.

I'd try and find out either from somewhere like Jessops, or even Samsung themselves, how much it would cost to repair / replace the viewfinder. You may find it a more economically better option to buy a new camcorder.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
