PAL Panasonic NVDX110

Hi,

Many years ago I purchased a Panasonic NVDX110, and have recently got myself a Canon XL2, and to be honest...the panasonic is still a much better "film look" with its simple frame mode option. BUT as this camera is now discontinued I can't seem to track any others down to purchase. If anyone could give me some suggestions on where I could look I would be very greatful. Even Ebay dont have them

Thanks for taking the time time to read this.

try a search under Pansonic EZ30 or EZ35, basically the same cam, the more recent MX300 & MX350's are good as well, giving better audio level control (fluid rather than staged attenuation)

Canons such as the XM1 and XM2 used the same CCD block and pixel shift system for the frame record mode. However this only gave around 75% of full resolution, your XL2 should give full resolution and should, in theory, look better.

the XL2 has a whole host of image processing options so checkt hese out before writing the camera off.

You will have bother finding things like batterys for the DX100/110 and EZ30/35's, so a more recnt machine might be worth thinking about.

Hi,

Firstly to Sprout, thank you very much for letting me know about where to buy the camera. You have be most helpful.

And to Roy, thanks for the advise and the only reason I was going for the Panasonic was that I have been using it for years now and still cant see any camera beating its "frame mode" appearance. I have shot a music video using 2 of the panasonic cameras before and showed it to someone who produces dramas on itv in 35mm film, and he asked me what film stock did I use....so it cant be bad.

Just an update on the Canon XL2, I was using it yesterday and through the view finder I wasn't overall impressed, BUT once I played it back through the TV, wow...very good quality especially in 25 frame mode. I wouldn't say it replicates film but certainly boats a HUGE difference between amateur and pro cameras. This would be my chose of camera if I was going to produce a documentary.

Thanks for all the help guys

Stuart
