battery not charging does it sound faulty

i have a panasonic nv-gs5b camcorder and i have hardly used it in the few years i have had it but went to use it today and charged tha battery and after a small time the green charge light goes out and i put the battery onto the camcorder and the battery warning light still shows.

does the battery sound as though i need a new one, the battery cannot be charged on the camcorder it has to be done on the seperate charger, i just want to be sure it is the battery before i buy a new one.

does this seem a good price for a new battery at £17.75 + £3 postage.

Battery may have over discharged, although Li-ion, try giving it a quick tickle from your car 12 volt battery (only for a few seconds !), then try charging again on charger, sometimes charger can't recover a completely flat (0 Volt) battery, worth a try
