copying over dv tapes

is it ok to reuse dv tapes, or does this affect the quality. I copied a tape Hi8 tape to DV tape using rca cable but I now want to try it with S Video, so can i just record over the dv tape or should i use a new tape.

Reuseing a DV tape a couple of times should cause no problems, but I wouldn't do it more than once or twice as tapes do wear out/stretch etc.
Personally I keep all my tapes, and even backup the final edit back to a DV tape as they are so cheap now. But if you know you wont want what is on the tape I see no reason why you can't reuse it!

Mark.

Actually, it's good to record over a previously recorded tape, you end up with a clear edit point, ever wondered why the last frame of a blank new tape pauses for 1 sec?( no new data to rebulid next frame)
