Anyone know of a free MPEG4 encoder?

Hi guys
I use Pinnacle Studio 9 SE, and want to produce some video I can post onto a web site... its only a hobby, so do not want to pay a load of money, but is there a free (ish) tool for converting the files produced by Pinnacle (.wmv) into MPEG4 .... I can post .wmv files of very low quality using the files Pinnacle produces, but they are tiny, and very low quality, so I want to produce a better quality, slightly larger, but with a file size that is not too silly (medium quality .wmv from Pinnacle is about 35Mb for a 3 minute clip!!!)

BTW - If MPEG4 is not the best way of doing this (remembering the people visiting the site are not technically too savvy), is there a better format??

Thanx

Pete

It's only six quid from Pinnacle

I don't like the way Pinnacle tease you with open menus that then tell you that you have to pay more to get the functionality, but I did stump up the £6 to activate the MPEG4 encoder. It works like a dream.

Just my ten penneth in case you can't find a freebie

Thanks.... but is MPEG4 the way to go?

Thanks KevinK... I did not realise it was only 6 quid.... I paid up just last night, and as you say, it produces good quality MPEG4 files... only problem is that Windows Media Player does not recognise the files, and cannot download a codec to play it.... I can see the video, but no audio!!
Am I doing something wrong?

Any help, gratefully received

Pete
