what's happened ---help please

my daughter used to transfer her analogue video tapes form her old camcorder through a canon mv750i as an av-dv converter onto her apple e-mac and edit in i-movie------------we changed yesterday to an apple i-mac (G5)and now find that although her analogue video appears on the canon's screen and the canon is properly set in av-dv out mode, i-movie wont capture the film and reports that the camera has no tape. However i-movie will capture perfectly well any digital tape from the canon. Please help and suggest what has gone wrong.
Thanks
Alan

Maybe the Mac is set to control the cameras deck mechanism.

So there must be a setting somewhere to disable deck control, then it will capture on the fly without trying to control the deck (camera).

Duncan.
