connecting camcorder to dvd

hi
i have a panasonic nv-ds15b camcorder with a dv out
i have just purchased a panasonic hdd/dvd recorder dmre900

probably a very simple question but to link the two do i need a 6 pin - 4 pin firewire cable?

Well I've done a quick internet search but can't find the specs of your DVD recorder.
Have a look at the DV port on your camcorder - this will be a 4 pin port. Now compare it to the one on the recorder. If it is the same size you will need a 4 pin to 4 pin cable, but if it is bigger then as you say you will need a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable.

DMR-E900 ? maybe E100 0r E500 (typo), pana uses 4 pin mini DV on all, unless you have E500 and confused with its ethernet connection

sounds like a 4 pin / 4 pin
