Optical stabiliser on TR3200 has started throwing a wobbler

Constant vibration sems to indicate that the optical stabaliser is out of control on my camcorder. Is this terminal or fixable?

Local dealers are going to charge me £50 for an opinion which is redeemable if fixable. Dont really want to pay £50 for an opinion that it is dead.
