AC3 audio is Dolby Digital. I'm not sure about VS8, but most editing software (especially budget software) can't work with DD sound as you need to pay Dolby for a license which would push up the cost of the software. I would think that this is the most likely cause of the lack of audio and is therefore not a fault with either your PC or the software.
Some software can have a plug-in added to add the ability of AC3/DD audio, but yet again I'm not sure if this is available for Ulead VS8.

Mark.

Yes you just pay - download and install - you don't have to actually do anything in UVS8 - just play the video again and you should now have sound.

You will need the plug-in for the full version as well so the best option is to save the downloaded file and then you can find and run it again when you get the full version.

If you want to put AC-3 Dolby Digital onto your burned DVD make sure you select that option in the burning module (only available after you install the plug-in) when creating your DVD.
