What quality should I expect?

Hello

I have a Sony TRVE19 camcorder and a Toshiba XS32 HDD-DVD recorder.

What quality copying should I expect when using firewire to copy from the Sony to the Toshiba? So far I have been very disapointed with the results even with the tosh set at the highest bitrate setting. Very jaggy and ghosting on moving images. In fact the quality is better using the composite connections on the Tosh. But then we have a problem that the Toshiba stops recording after 5 minutes and flags up a message that I am trying to copy, copy protected data!

Have used PC to edit and make DVD's in the past but was hoping the Tosh would provide a quicker, hassle free alternative.

Cheers
