making DVD from MPEG2 clips?

Are there any simple software products out there, which enable you to make a single DVD from multiple MPEG2 files, including adding a simple menu up front to skip to each MPEG clip?

Pinnacle Studio 8 or 9 and Ulead DVDMovie Factory will let you import MPEG2 files and then allow you to edit and create a DVD from multiple clips.

Note: it only works with mpeg2 files which have a .mpg file extension. If the mpeg2 files have been encoded for DVD as .vob files, it won't work. Hence you can't capture and edit prerecorded or material already on DVD.

There maybe other software applications which would allow you to edit MPEG2 .vob files. You could try downloading the trial version of TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Where are you getting the MPEG-2 files from? If you are capturing from another source directly as MPEG-2 then this may be a bad idea. I know that this will save a lot of disk space, but the files may not be DVD complient. If this is the case then they will need to be re-encoded which will cause further loss of quality. Where ever possible capture all files as AVI as this will cause little or no loss of quality, but will take up a lot of disk space.

Just remane the vob files to mpg then DVD MOviefacotry will accept them, however DVD MOvie facotry is no good for AC3 / dolby digital encoded DVD recordings unless there is a plug in I don't know about ??
