Jumpy/Non Playing DVD

Hi, I've been creating my own home videos for around 4 years now (since my first kid was born). I've used the same equipment Pinnacle Studio and Panasonic 25 and have gone through the technologies, VHS then VCD and now DVD.

For some reason though many of the DVD's I'm creating whilst fine on my PC have variable results when played on a DVD player. Sometimes varying results on the same player at different times of day !... it seems that the lower spec the DVD player the more chance the DVD's will play. My first (and olny if I'm honest) thought is that the media I'm using isn't up to scratch (I just use a cheap cakebox of datawrite DVD+R's), but could it be something else to do with the way I'm creating the DVD's (using Pinnacle's in-built functionality?).

Any thoughts gratefully received

i always use dvd-r as most dvd players are more more likey to pick it up

when i do home movies or shrinked movies i either burn with nero stomp 4.5 or dvd lab

i use pioneer 107-d 8speed

bulpaq orange 8 speed discs

i usualy find if i burn at 2/4speed i get no probs whatsoever

burnt any faster than that some players have difficulty picking it up
example burnt at 8speed my scht870 will play it my xbox will play my cheap pacific will play it

if i then go to my mums who has a philips/lg it will play 80% of it and then break up towards the end

same on my inlaws pioneer/technics

its weird dont quite understand it

so just 2 be on the safe side i always burn 2/4 speed i have had no probs so far
