Which Camcorder <£300

Quick question on behalf of a friend they want an answer today and I cant search all day online
So they are total novices but want a user friendly camcorder. I looked at online prices for Jvc GRD53 and Jvc GRD23.
As ever thoughts valud and appreciated. Home cinema I'm ok on but camcorders

JVC GR-D23 is fine, I have one, dead simple to use. About £215 on Amazon, or, if you have a Costco card, £250 with a case and a couple of tapes

People say you need mulltiple CCD's and all sorts of bells and whistles, but I think the 23E is just fine as I just record events and then lightly edit to DVD, or CD and it gives a good enough image for me.

Hope this helps
