no i-link on pc

no i-link on pc

happy new year to you all.
Had a jvc digital camcorder for christmas with dv out,which works great with my philips dvdr615 with i link (great picture),But also wanted to conect to my pc, but it has not got a i-link(firewire) socket,
is there any way i can add one to my pc.(runing xp)
if so how hard to fit(did manage to fit dvd +rw drive myself)
any help be great.
also whats movie maker on xp like .

Firewire cards are inexpensive to buy & easy to fit.

Get them from places like www.dabs.com (& remember a 4 to 6 pin cable if you don't have one). Open up the PC , slot it into a spare PCI slot & when you start the computer again Windows XP has the necessary drivers & away you go.

Movie Maker (providing it's version 2 ) is a good basic programme that will get you started into video editing and give you a chance to decide what you want in the future. It's only real drawback is that you cannot burn a DVD from within the programme and if you burn a VCD it will only play on a computer - BUT - it will output your final edited video as a file than you can use in a seperate disc burning programme (Nero or whatever) to create your discs.

Heres a link to the Lucent firewire card which includes a 4-pin to 6-pin connecting cable. Works very well for me.
