If I remember right I did this on the Panasonic X900. Accidently when connecting the camera to the TV when I first got it and it displayed live images. Didn't try recording though but someone else may be able to advise as I'm out of the country at the moment to be able to test it for you.

It will work with a TV but not with a computer screen. ie the camera will NOT work as a camcorder.

crikey, so....

are there any camcorders that would allow me to show on a big screen ( any sort of panel, as that would be sourced at the same time as the camcorder ) what I am actually recording at the same time...

distance from camcorder to panel will be no more than 5-10 feet....

You can view the recording content with my Sony HD camcorder as you record it using the hdmi out. I sometimes set it up using a 30M hdmi cable (with a remote control gizmo on either end to allow remote control) to video my bird table. You have to turn off demo mode and turn on the controls overlay so you can see what the camcorder is doing.

If the camcorder and TV are in the same room you have to mute the audio on the TV to avoid feedback.
