Apologies if this is somewhere in the forums though there are related items. Totally new to digital camcorder black arts and am interested in buying Panasonic NVGS400. Due to be in Canary Islands shortly and expect it to be more competetively priced there. Panasonic say Pan European warranty valid but that the PAL B version likely to be on sale there will not be compatible with PAL I here and may give playback problems. Intend to play back to PC for editing (already have Pinnacle Studio Deluxe 8.12 which seems to accommodate NTSC, PAL and SECAM) so is this an issue? Does anybody know whether the manual is multi-lingual?Any comments most welcome.

The main difference between PAL B & PAL I is the sound carrier spacing which only applies for RF signals. For the purpose you have in mind, it won't matter.

Be VERY careful when buying in the Canaries. I work for a manufacturer and we have seen several camcorders bought in the Canaries (mainly airport shops in Tenerife) which are complete fakes.
